Lunch is provided. Please let MII know of any food restrictions. Lunch will be available from 11:30am - 12:00noon. The tour will start at 12noon and last an hour.

PPE is required (hard hat, safety glasses & high vis). Closed toed shoes are required. Please bring but a limited number will be available to borrow.

Each tour offers one hour of professional development (AIA/HSW) and will be applied within two weeks after the tour.

Program Description:  Participants will learn first-hand through instruction and observing the manufacturing process how concrete masonry and hardscape units are made. Additionally, because of the highly specialized process and equipment used in their manufacture, concrete masonry units are structurally sound and sustainable construction products.

Learning Objectives

• Understand how unites are designed to obtain the most structural benefit.

• The use of extremely high pressure and vibration, very strong, durable and sustainable concrete masonry and hardscape products are made with low cement and low water content.

• How concrete masonry and hardscape products are used to form a cohesive, strong structural assembly that can effectively resist the design loads.

• Concrete masonry and hardscape products are non-combustible and that fire resistance rating of a masonry block assembly easily can be determined according to the amount of material and the aggregate type used in the manufacture of the unit.
