MII and BAC3 IA have partnered to offer post-secondary industrial technology professionals an opportunity for a hands-on educational learning experience in masonry.

Level 2 is offered and must attend Level 1 to participate in Level 2. Attendees can register for the Level 2 course each year. The Level 2 course will focus on a new masonry concept each summer, so that instructors can refresh their masonry skills yearly.  Going forward, Level 1 will only be offered every other year and a minimum of 10 must be registered to hold the course.. Level 2 will be offered yearly.

Date: Level 1- July 13 & 14
Level 2 - July 15 & 16
Day 1: 8:00am - 5:15pm | Day 2: 8:00am - 3:15pm

Location: BAC3 IA Training Center, 601 S 12th Ave, Marshalltown, IA

Level 1: Included in the two-day course will be hands-on instruction – with the intent to teach proper bricklaying methods that instructors can pass along to their students. This course will also include masonry curriculum for teachers to implement on how to teach a masonry unit in the classroom. Curriculum materials such as instruction videos, tests, evaluations worksheets and classroom set-up will be provided. 

Level 2: The Level 2 one-credit license renewal course will focus on a new masonry concept each summer, so that instructors can refresh their masonry skills yearly. 2026 will focus on brick masonry - including the history, manufacturing, different brick sizes, piers, and wall bonds. The participants will design and build a brick pier planter that can be replicated as a class project with their students.

Professional Development Credit
Attending the 15-hour professional development program will offer attendees one hour of professional development towards license renewal or grad credit. Teachers may register through the AEA for either professional development or grad credit.

Costs:
Professional Development: $50 per credit
This is the fee AEA charges and cannot be waived. MII does not charge any additional cost to attend.

Grad Credit: $140 per credit
You have a choice to pick credit through several universities in Iowa. Taking this course for grad credit will offer you 1 hour of credit
